# RTOS Supported Operating Systems

Qualcomm Dragonwing SoCs use a heterogeneous architecture in which the application processor runs Linux while a dedicated real-time subsystem, built around an integrated microcontroller unit (MCU), runs Real Time Operating System (RTOS). The MCU handles time-critical and deterministic workloads, and isolating these tasks from the main operating system ensures predictable timing regardless of the load onthe application processor.

Depending on the SoC, the real-time subsystem runs either FreeRTOS or Zephyr RTOS, as shown in the table below. For details on capabilities, current limitations, and development workflows, see the FreeRTOS and Zephyr sections.

| SoC | Supported RTOS |
| :-: | :-: |
| IQ-8275 | FreeRTOS |
| IQ-9075 | FreeRTOS |
| Q-2390 | Zephyr |
| IQ-2390 | Zephyr |
